If You Want Me To...

I'm writing this Wednesday night from the couch (bed??!) in my mom's hospital room. I convinced my dad to take a break, and get a good night sleep in his own bed. So here I am, planning to have a slumber party with my momma. She's out (pain medicine and Benadryl will do that to you!) so this might not be the most exciting girl's nights together, but it is just so nice to be here with her.

I laying here thinking just how much God has been there for us the last few days. You just never know what life is going to throw at you. Just watching the news tonight, I heard at least 3 stories of people dying or being in major accidents. Just yesterday I didn't know if we would be getting the dreaded news of a cancer diagnosis for my mom. Nothing is guaranteed. Nothing works out just the way we want it to be, the way we plan, every single time. It makes me think about a song that I was listening to a few days ago. One of my favorite songs that Ginny Owens sings is called "If You Want Me To." Wow is it powerful, and so applicable to life...to the hard times so many of us have to face in life. I just can't help but think about what Justin and I are going through on our journey. I find myself listening to it over and over and over. (It is in my playlist at the bottom if you want to listen to it...just click on it.)

If You Want Me To
Ginny Owens

The pathway is broken
And The signs are unclear
And I don't know the reason why You brought me here
But just because You love me the way that You do
I'm gonna walk through the valley
If You want me to

Chorus:
Cause I'm not who I was
When I took my first step
And I'm clinging to the promise You're not through with me yet
so if all of these trials bring me closer to you
Then I will walk through the fire
If You want me to

It may not be the way I would have chosen
When you lead me through a world that's not my home
But You never said it would be easy
You only said I'd never go alone

So When the whole world turns against me
And I'm all by myself
And I can't hear You answer my cries for help
I'll remember the suffering Your love put You through
And I will go through the valley If You want me to

Wow. Even through those valleys, God has given all of us the strength to face anything! It might not be easy, but I'm choosing to trust Him... to follow Him...because I know I'm not alone!

Whoo-Hoo for Girls Night!!! LOL
So glad that your mom is doing well...we will continue to pray for her and your dad. Those hospital couches are not comfortable! Ouch! =)

I had never heard that song, but it's hard to hear many songs these days... you know, when your commute is less than 10 minutes. And my luck: when I am alone and I can listen to the radio.... All Commercials!!!! =)
