Our Country's Future

So what I didn't want to happen yesterday happened--John McCain lost the election to Barack Obama. It frightens me to think about what Obama's views mean for our country--what will happen to the Supreme court, to Roe vs Wade, to the definition of marriage, and so many more issues. One thing I know for sure though, is that God has called us to pray for our leaders. God is in control of all, and I will trust Him with my future, my country's future, and the future of the world that I so desire to bring children into. Honestly, I'm kind of scared of the future of the world we live in, but I trust God and all the promises He's given us. I will pray for President Obama and the other leaders in charge of our country. I will pray that God will speak to their hearts and guide them into decisions that will help us, not hurt us. God is in control, even when we feel like we are not! Will you join me in trusting God?

Amen! (And you didn't really "lose" me as a follower. I just went anonymous for the sake of your privacy -- ie, strangers who find my blog also finding your blog because of me...) Anyway. Amen to your post, and BTW, the tree in the post below? BEAUTIFUL!

It is a new day and there is definitely "change coming to America." Of course, I am afraid of the scope and nature of that change as well. I agree that it is important to pray for our leaders and trust that Obama will, as he has indicated he would, look to our God for direction. He IS in control and we CAN trust Him! But I also believe that we must not be a silent minority...we must continue to promote and espouse our Christian values and speak out when we see them being compromised! My prayer is that God will guide our leaders with His wisdom, that they will be sensitive to His leading, and that we as Christians will have the courage to stand up for His truth!

I'm not sure what to think of all of this..... it's a good thing that it takes forever for change to happen with the government anyway!!

Yes, we join you all in praying for all of our country's leaders. I also pray that God Himself will reveal Jesus to our new president and his staff. We pray for God to have His perfect will and way. We have been through this before with JFK, LBJ, President Carter and President Clinton. Nothing is too difficult for the Lord.

I'm completely with you. So many things lately have increased my prayer time, which I'm thankful for, I just pray now that maybe something that effects so many of us will bring more of us together to pray instead of praying alone.
